Structure: Minor Folds, Wavy Bedding, And Small Gravity Faults

Tectonics: Great Plains

Deposit: Discovery year: 1890's the ore is located in relatively flat-lying, fine-grained sandstone. The mineralization appears to be distributed in three well-defined beds with a total thickness of 10-20 feet. A gypsum bed that overlies the top sandstone member is used As an indicator to position the copper-bearing beds. The ore mineral is finely disseminated chalcocite in a finely granulated, well cemented sandstone. Chalcocite is present in the ore As dark patches and streaks in the light-gray sandstone. Alteration to malachite is prominent in bedding planes and fractures.
