Crystal aggregates of pyrite in Upper Cretaceous carbon-rich black shales of the Bonarelli Level (the distinctive marker bed at the top of Scaglia Variegata Alpina Formation) along the path connecting Contrada Sciessere to Contrada Busa.
This was one of first localities in the Bonarelli Level where pyrite aggregates, in the form of nodules, discoids and other shapes, were found. In the very recent past, such aggregates were erroneously called marcasite.
