These quarries are in the town of Guilford, not Branford as incorrectly written by Schairer (1931) below:
The Hoadley Point quarries are in Branford township near the township line of Guilford on the end of Hoadley Point. At the quarry with the large white flagpole some very interesting minerals may be collected and the relation of the small pegmatites to the main mass of granite-gneiss studied. Crystals of albite, orthoclase, muscovite and quartz are common in cavities in the pegmatite and coarse portions of the granite gneiss. Excellent large crystals of deep green apatite and brown to grayish-brown small crystals of monazite are plentiful. Garnet, hornblende and biotite are present in the interesting dark knots or lenses.
