Djebel Ouenza


An open-pit iron mine working an iron carbonate deposit hosted in Aptian neritic limestones located proximal to evaporitic diapirs of Triassic age. The mine produces 2-2.5 million tons of iron ore per year; reserves are estimated at 120-150 million tons (1997).
