The main rock type is a quartziferous, coarse-grained, orange-brown syenite of the Chatham-Grenville sequence. Most of the quarry rock is fractured and altered.
Two metric-sized shear zones cross the quarry diagonally. Close to these shear zones, the rock is hematized, sericitized, epidotized, chloritized, and cut by brecciated and geodic calcite veins.
A significant pyrite, fluorite (green and mauve) and quartz mineralization is present in these veins.
