A short tunnel on the former Pennsylvania and Reading Railroad, now SEPTA, just north of the Gwynedd Valley station, between North Wales and Gywnedd Valley. The roof of the tunnel has been removed, the two tracks now pass through an open cut.
Occurrences in the Gwynedd and North Wales members of the Lockatong formation of the Newark supergroup, late Carnian, upper Triassic.
Spoils piles are spread over 15 acres. Various fossils have been found here, first noted as early as 1858 by Leidy. Finds include pterosaur bones, fish scales and reptile teeth.
