Crescent Mine


A gold mine on the east side of Palmer Mountain. It was developed by more than 2000' of workings. It produced more than $300,000 prior to 1938.
Structure: The Spectacle Formation Was Deposited Along An Active Continental Margin.

Deposit: Property consisted of a 140-ft shaft with an adit on the lower level together with more than 2000 feet of drifts (huntting, 1956, p. 150). ; info.src : 1 pub lit

Geology: The veins are in metasedimentary rocks of the spectacle formation above the contact with the whisky mountain pluton (umpleby, 1911, p. 98; rinehart and fox, 1972, geol. Map).

Rock formation(s): Spectacle Formation Of The Anarchist Group


Ore(s): At Least Four Quartz Veins Ranging In Width From A Stringer To 10 Feet Occur In Argillite A Short Distance Above Granite. The Granite Is Sericitized And Kaolinized (Huntting, 1956, P. 150).
