The Ibity Massif with its highest point (Mt. Ibity) at 2292 m is a good landmark for the area. In many older articles on the minerals in the Sahatany Pegmatite Field, this area has been refered to as just "Mt. Ibity" (or in elder french literature "Mt. Bity"). In this database however, the locality Mt. Ibity refers only to the minerals found at several points in the quartzite massif close to the summit, not to the numerous pegmatites in the valley below this massif: for those see the Sahatany valley entry.
