An old feldspar quarry in a granite pegmatite located in the Wolfpit Nature Preserve. Cooley (1989) says: "It's almost impossible to miss the opening to the abandoned feldspar mine, since the trail is strewn with chunks of sparkling white quartz." This name has sometimes been applied, perhaps incorrectly, to Biermann's Quarry in Huntington State Park https://www.mindat.org/loc-6788.html
Checking the area in Winter 2010 (David S. Bernstein) revealed that the mine/quarry was in fact easy to miss, as it could not be found.
On the highly detailed LiDAR topographic imagery there is a small trench located here: 41.363927 -73.376201 with very limited surrounding spoils that does not look like a quarry. Rocks are not visible around it on winter aerial imagery, but trees do obscure the view. Needs a field check.
