Punta Santa Vittoria, Pula, Città metropolitana di Cagliari, Sardegna, Italia
Autobrecciated andesitic lava with associated pyroclastic and epiclastic levels forming the promontory of Punta Santa Vittoria.
Zeolite veins in grey andesitic lava consists of stilbite (as white, yellow or pinkish crystals), heulandite, calcite, and laumontite. The veins crossing the red conglomerates of andesitic lava clasts are characterised by the presence of colourless, greyish or pinkish chalcedony, colourless quartz, calcite (as white spatic masses or yellowish rhombohedral crystals), and various zeolites (stilbite, heulandite, chabazite, and mordenite). Colourless gypsum crystals are sometimes associated with zeolites. Due to the beauty of some zeolite specimens, with crystals of stilbite and heulandite attaining several centimetres in length, this locality has been nicknamed Poona of Italy.
Note: Some collectors wrongly hold that Capo di Pula is the name of Punta Santa Vittoria, while Sant'Efisio tower is the one of the entire promontory whose real name is Capo di Pula. Consequently, it is not uncommon to see specimens from Punta Santa Vittoria erroneously labelled "Capo di Pula".
