The famous isolated find of large gold plates in quartz (up to 3x8cm, 16g, total find approximately 2 kg) in 1927 in a small gravel quarry during road construction.
The specimens can be seen in the Czech National Museum in Prague and Museum in Vodňany.
Křepice is nowadays part of the village of Stožice.
In 1927, Křepice experienced the last gold rush in Bohemia. On March 25, on a private carriage branch branching off the main road to Stožice to Vojtěch Mareš's circular brickyard, pieces of gold appeared while hammering gravel. The postman Václav Prošek was the first to notice them. When he brought them to the post office in Vodňany, the well-known ethnographic worker and catechist Florian Fencl went to Křepice and managed to find several pieces of quartz with golden plates. On the same day and in the following days, a lot of people from Vodňany and the surrounding area poured in and dug a stone on the road. At first, they sometimes found something, but soon the place was exhausted. It turned out that the gold was overgrown only in a single boulder of quartz, originating from Hasík's quarry west of Křepice. It is stated that there was about 1 kg of gold plates in it. It was not pure gold, but electrum, a naturally occurring alloy of gold and silver. Since 2007, the Stožice circular nature trail has led through these places.
