Skarn. Locality found in the early 1980s. Known for groups of short-prismatic groups of crystals of fluorapatite, the crystals measured up to 4cm long.
Apatite specimens from this locality have erroneously been labelled chlorapatite. Nordrum et al. (2010) showed them to be fluorapatite.
Specimens from this locality are labelled as Øynaheia, but sometimes (not correctly) often labelled as coming from Herefoss (Herefoss is the nearest larger village located in the neighbour municipality, Birkenes). It is located west of the small pond Tiksletjenn.
Note: This is not identical with the Øynaheiaveien road cut west of Mjåvatn. The coordinates for this locality given in the German website Mineralienatlas are not correct. An investigation is currently going on to establish the correct coordinates.
