As part of Anstey Hill Recreation Park, fossicking and collecting at this site is now prohibited.


A series of quarries over a suggested length of approx 700 m.
They opened in 1868 on sandstone and quartzite for use as building stone. They were worked in the 1920s for stone for use in construction of Saint Peters Cathedral, the Cross of Sacrifice, War Memorial Hall at St. Peter's College, St. Francis Xavier's Cathedral, Supreme Court, Adelaide General Post Office, Adelaide Town Hall and Flinders Street Baptist Church.

Some evidence of working is visible at the NE end of the Anstey Recreation Park, however actual placement remains sceptical due to rehabilitation.
It is also possible that this included some or all of the other quarries on the northern side of Anstey Recreation Park.
