A former iron mine (limonite) on the SW slope of the Eibelkogel.
In this area mining for iron started in the 14th century, but most of it took place in the 19th century. This mine consisted of the Barbara adit and 3 superimposed adits. In 1847 it was owned by Daniel Fischer of Thörl, changed hand several times and was closed around 1880.
Brown and red Glaskopf in a geode was found on the surface and described in 1847.
The ore was processed in 2 blast furnaces in the nearby village of Greith. The production in the best times was about 300 metric tons (5’400 zentner) of pig-iron per year. About 70 workers and miners were employed at that time.
