Livingston is a village that was one of the hubs of active lead-zinc mining in the upper Mississippi Valley zinc-lead district. A number of now-abandoned mines, prospects and "diggings" lie mostly southeast of the community. This adjoins the Mifflin area to the east, another similar mining area.
