Monte del Forno is a mountain straddling the border between Italy and Switzerland, and its western slopes overlook the Forno Glacier.
Ferrario and Montrasio (1976) describe a stratabound manganese deposit in the area and also note the presence of "Mn–Ca carbonate" in their abstract. Pegmatite veins, amphibolites and garnet-andalusite-micaschists are also known to occur.
Mineral specimens can be found all around the mountain. Specimens collected on the Italian side should be listed here, while those from the Swiss side should be listed under loc-133396.
