Abandoned quarry on the southern slope of Monte Main.
The quarry exposed a lower calcarenite horizon (no longer observable) attributed to the Lower Eocene and two Middle Eocene calcarenite horizons intercalated by volcanoclastic products (Barbieri & Zampieri, 1992).
Middle Eocene volcanics crop out in the quarry and in an area just above it. Well-known in this area are the chalcedony nodules, sometimes containing trapped water (enhydros).
The quarry is well known for findings of fossils (decapods and brachiopods). Inside some brachiopod fossils, millimetric quartz crystals that are also doubly-terminated have been found.
