Numerous copper mines and prospects exist in the area, working mineralization in Precambrian basalts and rhyolites, containing amygdaloidal cavities, and Cambrian quartzites. Hydrothermal veins occur in shear zones in the altered basalts; with epidotization occurring in the basalts adjacent to the veins. Mineralization occurs in the veins and in the cavities.
