Ancient(?) iron mine. The modern history of the mine started in 1847; worked until 1983.
Now a tourist mine, the only one in Germany where visitors can ride down a hoist in the shaft (to the 150 meter level). Also the mine is still used as a water supply, and for experiments in mine reinforcement/safety, and geothermal heating.
Located 3 km north of Oberbiel and 6.5 km NW of Wetzlar.
