Köppen climate type:
The deposit at this prospect is considered to be a satellite of the deposit at the Red Mountain prospect (HE122).
Location: This prospect is at an elevation of about 3,600 feet on the northwest side of Dry Creek, about 3.4 miles west-northwest of the junction of Red Mountain Creek. The map site is at about the center of sec. 25, T. 11 S., R. 1 E., of the Fairbanks Meridian. The location is accurate to within 0.5 mile.
Geology: The country rocks at this prospect are the Lower Mississippian to Middle Devonian Totatlanika Schist, composed predominantly of mafic and felsic metavolcanic and metavolcaniclastic rocks, pelitic schist, and minor marble (Wilson and others, 1998). The deposit consists of massive-sulfide lenses in schist (Cox and others, 1989). The lenses are mainly galena and sphalerite, accompanied by chlorite, quartz, and sericite. The schist in the footwall is altered to chlorite and sericite.
Workings: Surface exploration only.
Age: Mineralization was probably syngenetic with the Lower Mississippian to Middle Devonian host rocks.
Alteration: Footwall alteration zones containing chlorite and sericite.
Commodities (Major) - Ag, Pb, Zn; (Minor) - Cu
Development Status: None
Deposit Model: Kuroko massive sulfide (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 28a)
