Köppen climate type:
The Pirate Creek claims group may overlap with either, or both, the Flaurier (HE036) and Jumbo (HE034) prospects.
Location: The Pirate Creek prospect is on the south bank of the West Fork Chulitna River, about a mile upstream from the junction of Bryn Mawr Creek. The map site is at the west edge of sec. 26, T. 19 S., R. 11 W., of the Fairbanks Meridian. The location is accurate to within half a mile. Also see Additional comments.
Geology: The country rocks at the Pirate Creek prospect are Permo-Triassic argillite and graywacke. The deposit consists of quartz veins containing arsenopyrite and stibnite. The veins contain up to 0.03 ounce of gold per ton as determined from trench samples. The veins are subparallel, and adjacent to a northeast-trending splay of the Zigzag Creek fault, suggesting a genetic relationship (unpublished report by Addwest Minerals International Ltd., 1997). The Pirate Creek deposit contains stibnite, which distinguishes it from other deposits in the area.
Workings: Surface workings only.
Age: Probably Late Cretaceous (70 - 65 Ma) or younger (HE043).
Commodities (Major) - Ag, Au ; (Minor) - Sb
Development Status: None
Deposit Model: Polymetallic veins (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 22c)
