This is the only report of platinum-group metals in the Chandalar quadrangle. The actual presence of platinum-group metals, however, is questionable.
Location: This site is at an elevation of about 3,500 feet approximately 6 miles north-northeast of the north end of Bob Johnson Lake (formerly Big Lake) and 1/2 mile east of the head of Limestone Creek, a south-flowing tributary to the Bettles River (sec. 17, T. 32 N., R. 8 W., of the Fairbanks Meridian). The reference point for this site is the same as that for loc. 37 in DeYoung (1978). The location is accurate within a 1/2-mile radius.
