Location: Capps (1913) reports that one man mined gravels on a bench twelve miles from the junction of Lake Creek with the Yentna River. The location of this occurrence is estimated at best. Coordinates given here place the prospect in the northwest quarter of Section 30, T. 23 N., R. 9 W., of the Seward Meridian.
Geology: Cobb and Reed (1980) report that the lower part of the (water) course is entrenched as much as 300 feet in glacial and Tertiary continental deposits; bedrock is very deep. Fine gold was recovered from both stream and bench placers. Martin (1919, p. 33) reports platinum in the Lake Creek basin, but no specific location is given.
Workings: The drainage has been prospected and mined by various small scale surface methods.
Age: Pleistocene.
