Location: Cobb (1972, MF-413), loc. 30; SE1/4SE1/4 sec. 2, T. 2 N., R. 1 E., of the Fairbanks Meridian. This prospect is about 300 feet northwest of milepost 18 on the Steese Highway, about half way betwen the mouth of Granite Creek and Skoogy Creek.
Geology: This site was described by Chapin (1914) as a flat-lying body of quartz containing lenses of argentiferous galena accompanied by jamesonite in quartz diorite intruded by granite porphyry. Cubic cavities with limonitic material probably derived from pyrite also occur. There is also secondary pyromorphite and cerusite (Chapin, 1914). Dark quartz diorite is intruded by coarse- and fine-grained granite porphyry, all cut by quartz veinlets of at least two ages (Hill, 1933, p. 118).
Workings: Hill (1933) reported an old shaft, an open cut, and a caved tunnel by 1931.
Alteration: Secondary minerals formed from the alteration of galena are pyromorphite and cerusite.
Production: Hill (1933) reported sacks of galena-jamesonite-cerusite ore on the dump at the prospect, but there is no record of production.
