Abandoned iron mine that exploited the Proterozoic Ironwood Formation, a banded iron formation exposed in the NE-SW Gogebic Iron Range. The deposit was explored starting in 1886. Ore was shipped from the mine from 1887 until 1913. The mine reached depths of 1,208 feet.
