Old quarries, partly reclaimed, opened in ophiolitic rocks to the south of Pastina in the direction of Pomaia.

Typical minerals of the northernmost quarry are pumpellyite-Mg, andradite var. topazolite, chromite, talc, epidote, prehnite, aragonite, fibrous minerals of serpentine subgroup, hematite, calcite, chalcopyrite, pyrite, sphalerite, and manganese oxides.

Andradite var. topazolite has been sporadically found in the intermediate quarry.

The southernmost quarry has yielded analcime, natrolite, prehnite, aragonite, calcite, andradite, chalcopyrite, and pyrite. Maybe, it is the place from which D'Achiardi (1874 and 1875) reported the presence of pyrite in association with analcime and natrolite crystals.
