Trial levels on the east bank of the Afon Bannon where gold is supposed to have been found in 1865.
A report in the Mining Journal of that year stated "The satisfactory intelligence has been received by Mr W H Davies of Ty-Gwynne (Kilgerran), that his miners had cut a lode in the forebreast of the south level, the stones from which contain visible gold. The gold discovery, which is regarded as the first in South Wales, caused great rejoicing in Kilgerran and neighbouring villages"
The levels are run in and the extent of the workings are unknown. No specimens of the supposed find are known to exist and a small dump by the highest level, the only spoil remaining, showed only specks of pyrite (G W Hall, Metal Mines of Southern Wales, 1971).
