A former Au-Pb-Cu-Ag occurrence/mine, located in the SE¼SE¼NE¼ sec. 34, T13N, R2W, G&SRM, 3.9 miles NW of the Mount Union lookout tower, on private (patented) land in a National Forest area. Discovered 1898. Produced during the period 1902-1927. Owned and operated by the Golden Dragon Mining and Milling Company, Maywood Copper Company (1919). There is also a claim also in sec. 35. The USGS MRDS database stated accuracy for this locality is 100 to 1,000 meters.

Mineralization is a quartz vein deposit with a tabular ore body with a strike of N25W and a dip of 53E at a thickness of 1.52 meters, hosted in diorite. Ore control was faulting and shearing. Ore concentration was oxidation and enrichment at near surface. Alteration was minor. An associated rock unit is the Neoproterozoic-Paleoproterozoic Government Canyon Granodiorite. Local rocks include Early Proterozoic granitic rocks.

Area structures include veins that trend N30W to N25W. Local granodiorite is rather massive.

Workings include underground openings 33.53 meters long and with an overall depth of 60.96 meters and comprised of 2 shafts 110 feet apart, connected by drifts.
