Ref.: The Iron Mines of New Jersey (1910), Bayley: 448-450; NJ State Geol. Annual Rpts.: (1855): 230-234; (1868): 551-554; (1873): 46; (1879): 56; (1882): 70. An iron mine in magnetite ore located about 1 mile East of Dover on the North side of the Morris Canal. Started 1855 and closed 1875 and reopened 1882. Ore vein was 1 to 3 feet wide (SW end); 13 feet (middle); 9 feet (NE end). Workings included 2 shafts and 2 adits and an opening 860 feet long x 175 feet deep (by 1855). At the end of operations the workings were 1,300 feet long and 220 feet deep.
