An iron mine that opened as an open pit in 1882. It later went underground with one shaft and was incorporated into the Riverton Group and then into the Hiawatha group via the Hiawatha No. 2. The property description is SW-SW Sec. 36 T43N-R35W, which is the 40 acres between N46º4'22", N46º4'35", W88º37'56", and W88º38'14". The mine worked the Riverton Iron-Formation of the Paint River group. It worked the near-surface tip of the huge ore iceberg that was mined to 2000 ft. depth in the Hiawatha No. 2.
The adit remains preserved by modern fencing and signs.
