John Redmond Prospect

A polymetallic prospect near Park City. This prospect is located adjoining the site of Park City on the southeast. It worked a mineralized gabbro dike 100' wide and several hundred feet long. Development includes 2 short crosscuts and several prospect pits.

Note: There is confusion on the location of this prospect. Pardee (1918) lists it as being in section 4 (33-31E), as well as being SE of Park City. Section 4 however is 2 miles NW of Park City, so the true location is not known.
Structure: Dikes Trend North To Northeast

Alteration: Dike Altered To Dark Brown, Soft And Crumbly, Iron Oxide-Rich Rock.

Deposit: The whole is impregnated with grains of zinc blende, pyrite, pyrrhotite, and chalcopyrite. In part the sulfides are aggregated As flakes and thin films in minute fractures that traverse the rock in various directions. Locally they are concentrated in bands As much As 1/4 in. In width. Some bands are formed almost exclusively of zinc blende. Others contain chiefly the iron sulfides and chalcopyrite.

Development: 2 short crosscut tunnels and a fe W pits.tunnels and pits. Exploration in 1971-72.

Geology: Dike could be more than a mile in length. 400 ft to the east of the dike some small pits expose a similar rock that appears to be a parallel dike separated from the main dike by argillite

Ore(s): Gabbro-Like Dike
