A Zn-Pb-Cd-Ba(baryte)-dolomite deposit/mine located within the city limits of Carthage. Discovered in 1965. Reopened in 2010 by Nystar company.
The ore body is 5 meters thick with a depth-to-top of 360 meters. The ore body is tabular and breccia fill. The primary mode of origin was hydrothermal activity. Primary ore control was fracturing and the secondary control was lithology. There is no wallrock alteration. The minimum depth to top is 334 meters and the average thickness of unconsolidated material is 25 meters. Although the overall average grain size is 1 to 5 mm (medium grained), the ore occurs in several zones that range in grain size from aphanitic to coarse. Deformation in the ore zone is solution collapse breccia. Local rocks include Nashville Group; Bigby-Cannon Limestone and Hermitage Formation.
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 372 meters and comprised of a shaft and underground development. Mining method is open room and stope. Milling process is flotation.
