Old copper mine.
This is a low-temperature hydrothermal mineralisation within Carboniferous limestones of the Barcaliente Formation (Peñamayor Limestone). The ore is mainly tetrahedrite, with chalcopyrite only occurring rarely. It is present in small quartz veins, where tetrahedrite occupies the central zone in centimetre-scale veins, sometimes anastomosing and filling karstic cavities.
