A former Cu-Ag-Zn-Au-Co mine located in sec. 33, T24S, R58E, MDM, 3.9 km (2.4 miles) WSW of Goodsprings and SE of Shenandoah Peak, on private land. Discovered in 1880. First production was in 1906. Owned by Joseph Dederich (1922). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.

Situation June 2023: Under new ownership, renamed Columbia 23 Mine (https://www.mindat.org/mesg-626196.html).

Mineralization is hosted in dolomite. Controls for ore emplacement included a breccia zone. Cobalt oxide was replacing dolomite country rock along a local fault, forming dendrites. Associated rocks include Paleocene granite. Local rocks include dolomite, limestone, and minor amounts of sandstone and quartzite.

Regional geologic structures include large-scale overthrusts. Local fault occurs W of the shaft.

Workings include underground openings with a length of 152.4 meters and an overall depth of 33.53 meters. The main workings are 2 shafts 800 feet apart.

Production data are given in Longwell et al. (1965).
