Name:
Named in honor of Professor Olga Vsevolodovna Yakubovich (Ольга Всеволодовна Якубович) (born 1950), a prolific Russian crystallographer, for her contributions to the studies of inorganic phosphates.
New structure type. Chemically similar to nazarchukite. Compare moabite. Also chemically somewhat similar to crocobelonite, beershevaite and graftonite-(Ca). Another natural anhydrous Ca-Fe phosphate (but a pyrophosphate) is anastasenkoite. Compare nabateaite.
Other Ni-rich anhydrous phosphates to compare are moabite, and the pyrophosphates lisanite and shasuite.
The first mineral crystallizing in the α-CrPO4 structure type.
The assemblage (not necessarily in a direct contact with yakubovichite) includes the phosphides halamishite, nevegite, transjordanite, orishchinite, nazarovite, and polekhovskite; and also trevorite, bunsenite, and hematite-eskolaite series.
With its possible structural analogues, galileiite and xenophyllite, it could possibly constitute a new (galileiite?) group.
Other Ni-rich anhydrous phosphates to compare are moabite, and the pyrophosphates lisanite and shasuite.
