Named in honor of Carleton Bryant Moore (September 1, 1932 in New York City - February 10, 2023 in Tempe, Arizona), professor at Arizona State University and founding director of the Center for Meteorite Studies, Tempe, Arizona, USA.
Type Locality:
First nickel silicide mineral to date, reported as "a new member of silicide minerals".
Chemically/stoichiometrically but not structurally analogous to suessite, thus not a true Ni analogue of suessite.
A low-temperature product, via solid-state diffusion from kamacite in its surrounding, and epitaxial growth on tetrataenite.
