Named in honor of Harold MacColl Bannerman (1897, Barney’s River, Nova Scotia, Canada - 30 October 1976, Middletown, Connecticut, USA), economic geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey (Chief of the Non-metalliferous Geology Section and Chief of the Division of Economic Geology) and professor at Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire, USA.
Visually similar to Unnamed (Na-V Oxide) (which is more common at the Liebenbergite slag locality in Lavrion).
