Name:
New mineral honors Prof. Bin Lian, a geomicrobiologist at the Nanjing Normal University, China, for his outstanding contributions to the understanding of interactions between minerals/rocks and microorganisms. Prof. Lian has made remarkable contributions to the molecular mechanism and environmental effects on microbial weathering of rocks, mineral bio-transformation and ecological functions of plant rhizosphere microbial community, and microbial mineralization and its applications.
Chemically related to lazaraskeite, stanevansite, and jimkrieghite.
Fourth glycolate mineral to date (2025).
