Name:
Named by George Augustus Koenig in 1891 from the Greek παρά (para), near, and melaconite, because it is near "melaconite" (= tenorite) in composition.
Paramelaconite has an extremely narrow stability region of phase space, with cuprite (Cu2O) and tenorite (CuO) forming readily as competing impurity phases (Živković et al., 2021).
