Name:
For the Belgian engineer geologist Alexander Safiannikoff (1903-1988), originally from Russia, who was engaged in the Compagnie Miniere Congolaise des Grand Lacs in Kamituga, Zaire for more than 30 years.
He was the first to discover the rankamaite pebbles in Mumba, north of Lake Kivu, Zaire (von Knorring et al.1969).
