Name:
The stone dallasite is named after Dallas Road, Victoria, British Columbia.
Dallasite is a local name for a Triassic Hyaloclastite or volcanic breccia found particularly on Vancouver Island, Canada. It is made of shards from the spalled rims of pillow basalt, commonly partly altered to chlorite, epidote, quartz and carbonate.
It is considered the unofficial stone of British Columbia's capital city and is an important gem material in British Columbia.
