Name:
Named by Henry Brooke in 1824 in honor of Thomas Nuttall [January 5, 1786 Long Preston, Yorkshire, England, UK – September, 10, 1859 Saint Helens, Lancashire, England, UK], mineralogist, ornithologist, and botanist. Nuttall was very active in explorations of natural history in the USA from 1808 - 1841. Was briefly at the Harvard University Arboretum and aspired to the Irving Chair of Mineralogy at Harvard University, but who lost out to John White Webster.
