Name:
Named in 1978 by Kurt Walenta for its relationship to chukhrovite-(Y) (at the time, simply chukhrovite). The root name is for Fedor Vassil’evich Chukhrov (1908-1988), Russian mineralogist and geochemist, and the modifier follows the Levinson rule for species with essential REE.
Note: The original type material has Y>Ce and is a Ce-rich chukhrovite-(Y)

Proposal 24-C is accepted, and a neotype sample is defined for chukhrovite-(Ce). The type locality is the Pb–Zn ore deposit formerly exploited by the Tripi mine, Alì Terme, Peloritani Mountains, Messina Province, Sicily, Italy. Neotype material is deposited in the mineralogical collection of the Museo di Storia Naturale, Università di Pisa, Via Roma 79, Calci (PI), Italy, under catalogue number 20075.
