Mboziite was named after the type locality; the Mbozi Complex, which is situated on the edge of the Tunduma branch of the Rukwa Rift Valley, 50 miles south-west of Mbeya,
Synonym:
A synonym of Potassic-ferro-ferri-taramite
'IMA 1964-003' mboziite was renamed to ferri-taramite with IMA 1978 nomenclature then renamed to ferritaramite with IMA 1997 nomenclature and eventually renamed and redefined potassic-ferro-ferri-taramite with IMA 2012 nomenclature.
