Comments:Pyrite that is found Richmond, Indiana have been identified in the Upper Ordovician Whitewater and Saluda Formations in the city limits, and in the Liberty Formation, further south toward Fairfield and Liberty, Indiana.

Typically, the pyrite found here are poorly crystallized crusts and well crystallized octahedral crystals are fairly rare. The pyrite crusts are known to be unstable.
