Species:'Scapolite' (not an IMA approved species)
Comments:Shepard (1837) lists it as "lining the walls of fissures in the gneiss-quarries of Hadlyme" and several other rock quarries in eastern Conn. That mode of occurrence is more like stilbite, which is common as radiating crystals in fractures in gneiss. He evidently confused the radiating habit of scapolite seen at Trumbull and elsewhere, but in those cases is a primary rock forming mineral, with the late-forming, secondary stilbite in fractures.
