At Dookie, axinite-(Fe) occurs as violet tabular crystals with sharp wedge-shaped edges. The crystals generally have striated faces and are usually transparent to translucent and measure less than 5mm. Weathered crystals become opaque. It is most commonly associated with actinolite and andradite.
