Comments:Cooper & Stanley (1990): "The record by Young (1987) of lanarkite with leadhillite from Brae Fell in the NMW Collection is an error (R.E. Bevins, pers. comm.)."

Green et al. (2008): The first claim of lanarkite in the Caldbeck Fells was made by Arthur Kingsbury, who described three small specimens from Brae Fell Mine in an unpublished manuscript on the minerals of the northern Lake District in 1951: these were examined in detail by Bridges et al. (2006) who consider it unlikely that they are from Brae Fell Mine and therefore that they are fraudulent."
