A former placer Au-Ag mine located in sec. 15, T16N, R6E, MDM, 1.7 km (5,600 feet) NE of Buzzard Peak, SW of Hogback Ravine, on National Forest land. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
NOTE: The name of this locality may be in error despite the fact that it is presented as Tumbactoo in the cited MRDS file. It is located 4.1 km (2.6 miles) NE of the town of Timbuctoo, which is located near the Timbuctoo Bend of the Yuba River, thus Timbuctoo is probably the correct name.
Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
