A drift Au occurrence located in sec. 18, T19N, R8E, MDM, about 3.7 km (2.3 miles) SSE of Barton Hill, along the North Yuba River on the lower NW slope of Pittsburgh Hill. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
NOTE: The MRDS file geographic coordinates are in error. They place this locality in Sierra County. The MRDS file places the locality both in Sierra County and Yuba County, based on different elements of data in the file. Research of the coordinates for the center of sec. 18, T19N, R8E, places the T&R sec. in Yuba County. The apparent error is with the longitude value. Substituting the value for the center of sec. 18 in the longitude field results in the locality being situated on a slope of Pittsburgh Hill, Yuba County, consistent with its name.
Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
